It is natural to feel angry, frustrated, exhausted, alone, or sad. Caregiver stress — the emotional and physical stress of caregiving is common. Join us to learn about the benefits of self-care to lessen depression and increase coping skills. Remember, you are not alone!

Presenters: Mary Hrinko, Program Specialist II and Samica Taylor, MS, Social Services Practitioner III, Riverside County Office on Aging

Speaker bios:

Mary Hrinko is a Program Specialist, for the Riverside County Office on Aging, Care Pathways Project under the Family Caregiver Support Program.   Her experience in social services spans over 20 years, including work with Riverside County and in the non-profit sector. Over 18 years have been spent in implementing Caregiver programs.  In 2010, she wrote a grant and has received ongoing funding from the Riverside University Health Systems – Behavioral Health (aka Department of Mental Health) to develop, implement and manage a psycho-educational program for family caregivers of older adults, with the intent to lower participant’s levels of depression and raise their coping skills. The Care Pathways program has been nationally recognized by N4a -National Association of Area Agencies on Aging with an Innovation Award and as a “Bright Idea” by Harvard’s Ash School for Democratic Governance and Innovation. 

Samica Taylor is a Social Services Practitioner and class facilitator for the Riverside County Office on Aging Care Pathways Project under the Family Caregiver Support Program. She has her Master’s degree in Psychology and has been with Riverside County Office on Aging for 4 years. She began her career in social services as a social worker for foster youth for several years, but later found that she had a niche for working with seniors and family caregivers. She enjoys teaching classes for caregivers and having the opportunity to be a part of their family caregiving journey.
