Take 30 Webinar with Janna Peterson
September 30, 2019 @ 3:00 pm - 4:00 pm PDT
The moment Janna Peterson started dressing herself in second grade, the bullying began. It didn’t end until well into high school and the effects of it went far beyond that. Now, after recovering from years of being peer pressured into eating dessert, over peopling, and pretending to hate wearing glasses, Janna uses these experiences to spread confidence and mental health awareness to anyone who will listen.
It started immediately after college, with Janna forging connections with actress Kim Coles, singer/songwriter Erykah Badu, and national hair care brands, Shea Moisture, Jane Carter and Pantene to run Kiss My Curls, an online platform used to encourage women struggling with poor self-image.
Realizing that many of the issues her clients were struggling with stemmed from childhood, she founded 57 North Hampton, a nonprofit that allows her to explore fun and creative methods of teaching mental health and coping strategies to children and teenagers. Through 57 North Hampton, she has hosted playshops, parties and other events, spoken at venues all across the nation, including the National Stop Girl Bullying Conference, and written and illustrated children’s books and teaching manuals.
When she’s not working, she’s either pretending to be Beethoven, pretending to be Michelangelo, pretending to be Nancy Kerrigan, or pretending to be in the Chopped Kitchen. She also enjoys napping. Like a lot.
